White and Givan is seeking professional contemporary dancers with a strong classical technique and an established contemporary practice to take part in the development of Dancers Connected.
Funded by Creative Scotland, Dancers Connected is a new place-based employment initiative for freelance contemporary dancers that seeks to create the support and infrastructure needed to sustain long-term performing careers by adapting key elements of a full-time company environment to a freelance context. This research and development period in Aberdeen will test a place-based training model. As part of this process, we are exploring how access to training resources, local infrastructure and community support influence a dancer’s ability to maintain performance readiness, train regularly and access paid professional performance opportunities. Fee and conditions: Selected dancers will receive a fee of £631 per week for participating in this four-week development and evaluation. The purpose of this phase is to test our place-based model of dancer training. We would not expect anyone to relocate for this opportunity. Participants will work from their existing base in Aberdeen; travel, accommodation and subsistence are therefore not provided as they do not form part of the model being tested.
