✨ W&G | Dancers Connected | Our Self-Led Week

What becomes possible when dancers have paid time, space and support to lead their practice, learn from one another and shape a sustainable working future in the places they call home?

This is the question at the heart of Dancers Connected and this week, the dancers are exploring it together.

Alex, Kim, Laura and Oran are taking the lead: sharing processes, exploring ideas and making collective choices, with Grace as a starting point for enquiry.

Leading here means opening up a process that everyone can contribute to. Each dancer brings knowledge and experience, and this week creates space for that expertise to be recognised, shared and developed.

Devised by White & Givan, Dancers Connected is exploring a place-based workforce model that puts dancers’ working lives at its centre. Paid employment, artistic agency and support to live and work in their communities are central to what we want to build.

The dancers’ choices and reflections during this self-led week will help shape the programme’s next stage.

Dancers Connected | Closing Our First Week

Our final day together this week, and there is already so much to celebrate, growing trust, curiosity and the dancers beginning to take ownership of their practice and the programme.

At the heart of Dancers Connected is a belief that dancers need time, space, support and paid opportunities to develop, connect and build sustainable working lives. Their voices and experiences are helping shape what this can become.

Thank you, Alex, Kim, Laura and Oran, for your openness, commitment and everything you bring into the room. It’s a privilege to work alongside you.
