University of Edinburgh, Moray House School of Education and Traverse Theatre are pleased to announce an innovative two year partnership: their new joint artists residency for the leading contemporary dance duo of Scotland White & Givan. The launch event will be at the Traverse Theatre on the 26th February at 17.00. The event will feature a sneak preview of White & Givan’s new website as well as Breathe – their latest dance duet in the wake of its spring tour to other theatre venues in Scotland from Glasgow’s Platform to Perth Concert Hall.
“We are exhilarated by this unique opportunity to position our contemporary dance company within the art world at large and two prestigious industry and education settings for the next two years” Errol White and Davina Givan
“As part of our dynamic relationship with the University of Edinburgh and ongoing commitment to working with White & Givan, the Traverse is delighted to be part of this exciting initiative. This is a perfect example of how by working together artists and institutions can support each other to creatively flourish and in doing so provide the conditions for great new work made in Edinburgh to fly.”
Orla O’Loughlin, Artistic Director and Joint CEO of Traverse Theatre
“Creative Scotland is committed to supporting excellence and experimentation in the arts in Scotland. It is fantastic to see the University of Edinburgh and the Traverse Theatre, two established institutions in the city, valuing choreographic research in collaborating to support White & Givan through this residency. We wish Errol and Davina well as they embark on their residency and as they tour their production, Breathe, throughout Scotland in the Spring.” Anita Clark, Head of Dance at Creative Scotland
